SeshFest 2018 – Wrapped Up - Magic Rock Brewing

Saturday saw the running of the inaugural SeshFest: our invitational beer festival focused on low ABV beers. Over 700 attendees enjoyed a wide variety of beers from 35 of our brewery friends around the UK and further afield.
When the idea for the festival was conceived, we wanted to offer a festival that was different to a lot of the other festivals around, putting the enjoyment and relaxation of attendees and brewers at the centre of the event and concentrating on the joy of beer as a social lubricant. To celebrate beer but also to avoid too much queuing, too much evaluating/rating and the associated FOMO (fear of missing out) that can accompany some of the most popular festivals.
As the festival was a celebration of ‘sessionable’ beer (every beer pouring being 4.5% or under) we also wanted to include a mixture of more traditional producers and local friends to pour alongside some of the best contemporary breweries. Seeing our pals from Verdant Brewing Co. pouring side by side with the esteemed Timothy Taylor’s was a beautiful thing to behold and perhaps symbolic of the festival as a whole.
The feedback that we’ve received so far has been fantastic with many reporting a slightly different vibe to the usual festivals. Not everything went completely to plan, but the sun shone down and good times were had. Over to our events manager Duncan for his take on how the day went . . .
Well that was a right good Sesh! Think we pretty much nailed it: good vibes, great breweries and great team in support of a fantastic event! A few minor things were noted, definitely more toilets for everyone and maybe a bit more food from the traders, but apart from that it was near perfect. Having used the space over the past three years for various events, we have formulated a plan that now suits the surroundings and utilises our strengths. Hopefully you all agree?
Just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone for chipping in and making this a huge success, with such a strong team behind us we were onto a good start. Thank you to the volunteers, attending breweries, security staff, food traders and a big cheers to all the punters who gave it such a good atmosphere.
