Nanosecond (Micro IPA) / Special Lazers (NEIPA) - Magic Rock Brewing
Introducing two brand new beers pouring exclusively at Hop City this weekend, the UK’s first hop-led beer festival returns for its third instalment in 2019. A celebration of the humble hop, Hop City brings some of the leading masters of brewing from around the world to the UK. Expect juice bombs, DIPAs, sours and murk, there will be something for everyone.
The two beers Nanosecond and Special Lazers will be keg only releases available from the first session of Hop City (Thursday 18th) and then pouring on draft at Magic Rock Tap from 1pm Friday 19th April. General trade release will be from Tuesday 23rd April.
Nanosecond: Micro IPA 2.7%
Little by name but not by nature, this micro IPA (the first of two beers developed for Hop City 2019) delivers plenty of NEIPA-style hoppy goodness at a super drinkable 2.7% ABV. The mouthfeel has been amped up with the addition of wheat, oats, and dextrin malts as well as a little rye. Hop-wise we added a complex mix of old and new, including orangey Amarillo and the coconut-like Sabro (formerly known as HBC 438). London Fog yeast was used in fermentation to enhance aroma and lend a lightly sweet finish.
Malts: Golden Promise, Flaked Oats, Wheat Malt, Rye Malt, Dextrin Malt
Hops: T90 Ekuanot, Amarillo, Comet, Sabro. LupuLN2 Amarillo
Yeast: WLP066
Special Lazers: NEIPA 7.0%
Our latest IPA, pouring first at Hop City 2019, is another refinement of the way we like our NEIPAs. Lots of wheat and oats for body and mouthfeel, combined with oodles of juicy US hop varieties in perfect harmony. This one has bags of pungent tropical fruit reminiscent of red grapefruit, papaya and pineapple along with flavours of apricot, pine and blueberry. London Fog yeast was used in fermentation to enhance aroma and add a characteristically sweet finish.
Malts: Golden Promise, Torrified Wheat, Flaked Oats, Wheat Malt
Hops: T90 Simcoe, Idaho 7, Denali. LupuLN2 Simcoe. Lupulin Powder Citra
Yeast: WLP066
